Rob Connor, Ross Stewart and Steve Blight challenged themselves to a 15 miles kayak and 35 miles cycle around the Waterside and New Forest area. Lots of training went into preparing for this especially the Kayaking leg with some very early starts to fit in with High tides on Southampton water. Each of the guys were sponsored by friends and businesses to complete the challenge. On the day we were blessed with pretty good weather and it was fantastic to see a big crowd at the finish line! The 'Surf and Turf boys' raised an incredible £2050.80!
In our continued effort to get Jake some intensive physiotherapy, Jake's Uncle James and his bands, Helter Skelter and the Flew Fighters kindly agreed to an acoustic gig. This afternoon gig was the perfect family event and it was amazing to see so many friends and family out in force! Both bands were amazing and Jake had a brilliant time socializing in his walker! We made a fantastic £1200 on the day and are so grateful to everyone who made the effort to come and support us all.
On Sunday 10th March Matt Barton and Mark Slocombe rode around the Isle of Wight in just 6 hours to help Jake's Mission. Jake and Daddy joined them, with Jake in his bike trailer, on the last leg of their trip and we are incredibly proud and grateful for their efforts. Matt and Mark raised an amazing £950! Awesome!
This fundraising event involved a Gig at our local pub, The Old Mill with the Band, Monkey Closet who all supported us for free! We charged £5 entry and held a raffle, several games to and of course had 'Cap'n Jake's Treasure Map' where an iPad 2 was won! With the help of local businesses who donated all the raffle prizes we raised £1300 on the night with the treasure map raising a further £700. This was further supplemented with our appearance on 'One Born Every Minute: Where Are They Now?' and the support of people who watched the show and donated to jakesmission.co.uk! Our Grand total was £2500 (we rounded this up slightly), an awesome amount of money! Thank you to all who supported and helped us with this!
